A New Way to Track Joggling Results

Published by Scott Jenkins on

Joggling is a hybrid sport that combines running and juggling. It is a very rewarding activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and fitness levels. When I learnt to joggle in 2018, I knew it was a rare activity. But I’m not alone in this unusual pursuit – there are at least 20 of us in the UK, and many more around the world! Recently, a fellow UK joggler and I began to compile endurance joggling results from across the web: using race results, media reports, and reaching out to suspected jogglers. If you would like to learn more, you can check out the new web app that I have built.

This web app allows users to find joggling results from 1981 to the present day. The app includes over 600 results, achieved by over 200 jogglers from a dozen countries. Users can search for results by date, location, or joggler. The app also contains all-time lists for distances from the mile to the marathon. Most jogglers joggle 3 balls, but there are a few 5 ball joggling results as well!

The web app is a valuable resource for jogglers around the world. We’re a small community, but we have found far more jogglers than I first expected – this app is a way to bring jogglers together. It is a great way to learn about the history of the sport, with links to media and race results, and for jogglers to track their own progress.

I hope that the app will help to inspire others to take up joggling and to help the sport grow. If you are interested in learning more about joggling, get in touch at jogglingresults(AT)gmail.com

The app was built using Streamlit as a front-end with a python back-end. The code can be viewed in this github repo.

I hope you enjoy using the web app. I hope to develop further features soon! What would you be interested to see? Let me know in the comments.

Until next time,

Scott
